Medical Assistant

Medical practice in Houston, TX is hiring a full time certified medical assistant to join their team. Applicant must be a fast learner who loves working as a medical assistant in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Role and Responsibilities

Medical Assistant is responsible for performing administrative and patient care duties requiring extensive judgement and exceptional patient-focused customer service. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist clinician during physical examinations
• Maintain treatment rooms
• Obtain vital signs and other triage-related information
• Document within electronic health records
• Maintain and manage supplies
• Perform clinical duties and documentation related to vaccinations, phlebotomy, lab procedures, and allergy/immunology 
• Manage phone messages and return calls/resolve concerns the same day they are received
• Ensure efficient patient navigation 
• Schedule patients, manage reminders 
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish required
• Must have and maintain medical assistant certification
• High school diploma
• Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems

Preferred Skills

Primary Care experience preferred

Urgent care experience preferred

Pediatric experience preferred

Allergy & immunology experience preferred
